I think this is fixed, but I never noticed it before and I often use my FP10 (one of the very first to be produced, due to my involvement with Bridgeco) to listen to stereo sources without having my DAW (Ardour/Reaper) booted.  

I'm not sure I understand your description though, perhaps I'm just not getting it: do you mean that there are no dedicated hardware pan controls, so you can't pan, input1 hard left, input2 hard right, and so on?
