Sunday, September 4, the Soundscapes Concert Series returns to the
Nazareth Center for the Arts with Modulator ESP of the UK.

Modulator Experimental Synthesis Project, a.k.a. Modulator ESP, performs
improvised music that explores the boundaries of dark ambient, drone,
Berlin School sequencing, and noise using modular synthesis, real-time
sampling, sound manipulation, and live looping. Eschewing playing along
to pre-programmed, structured backing tracks, Modulator ESP prefers
something a bit more freeform. This is the revelation he had upon
discovering bands like Arc, RMI, Redshift, Airsculpture, and Arcane who
were doing a retro-styled improvisational take on EM.

Modulator ESP has been described variously as "vintage synth overload to
propel you into the outer reaches of the cosmos" and "one man will
descend to (this) earth in a hail of analogue synth tones; called upon
from the singular consciousness of John Carpenter and Vangelis - like a
2046 dystopian dream with the optimism of Jean Michael Jarre and his
penguins."

Modulator ESP loves playing synths because of the electronic, synthetic,
other worldly nature of the sounds. This makes Ambient, Berlin School EM
the best style for his interests. He plans to stretch the boundaries by
incorporating some of his progressive influences.

Doors open at 7:30 pm and the concert is at 8:00 pm. The concert is
free. Donations are requested to support the musician and to enable the
Nazareth Center for the Arts to pay operating expenses. The NCA is
located at 30 Belvidere Street, Nazareth, PA 18064 just off of Route 191
on the southwest corner of Belvidere Street and South Spruce Street.
Check the NCA site for parking information.

The Soundscapes Concert Series is the concert companion to the Galactic
Travels radio program on WDIY-FM and to Thought Radio on WMUH-FM and
presents electronic music to the Lehigh Valley.
