I'd love to be able to add German to my list of languages. That would help with our regular family visits to Gelsenkirchen :-)

Well, let's see the active posters on this list:
* Kai: speaks German as his native language
* Gert: speaks German fluently, be it with a rather peculiar accent
* Martin: same as Gert
* Michael: same as Gert and Martin
* Jay: lives in a German-speaking country, and wherever he lives he'll have a rather peculiar accent anyway
* Marc: is moving to Berlin, and will no doubt be reading Goethe before you can say 'boo'
* Me: speaks German quite well, regardless of what my teachers thought
* Tony: is of German ancestry, and visits the country fairly often
* Andy: is of Armenian ancestry, which is practically Germany - well, Europe anyway
* Mikael: Swedish is basically a funny version of German
* You: Dutch is basically a funny version of German
* Tom: he speaks a funny version of Dutch, which in itself is a funny version of German
* Kim: Finnish is basically... actually, forget about Kim for a second
* Denis: he's Swiss (right?), and most people in Switzerland speak German, after a fashion at least
* Romain: doesn't he live rather close to the German border?
* Cyrille: I wouldn't call him an 'active poster'
So there's a rather strong argument to change the lingua franca of this list to German.
Now, there ARE a few difficult cases, like James, Ron, Bill, Mohsen, and of course the lot from the British isles: Jonny, Paul, Dave, Dong, Tony (the other one), Andrew, Chris, and Declan. But since they're a minority, it would be no more than reasonable that they would start using German, too.
Right? :)
