Android currently has *serious* flaws in its audio subsystem design
(fixed soon) that have precluded doing serious audio-generating apps in
that environment. This might change in a year, but in the meantime iOS
is dominating this field, technologically. Android has a *lot* of
catching up to do ..

I installed VLC from source on my iPad and can do all sorts of wild and
wonderful streaming things with it .. also, MAME-for-iOS + iControlPad
== amazing.  :)

Also, iPad supports MIDI devices and audio routing like no other device
out there in existence, bar none.
