Hi guys!
(also sent to Analog Heaven)
Mr X made me an Ultravox fan for life in 1980 or so, and it's still
one of my favorite songs by them. Here's me attempting to cover it,
relatively true to the original. In this reincarnation, it continues
the tradition of occasional "fun stuff" written for work, this time
from a customer's point of view (I'm an IT consultant). I also bought
a violin for this track :-)
As a fun parody to be played at work, it probably fails on every
level: it's not based on any particularly known song, it's waaaaayyy
too long, the lyrics don't address any actual existing problem, the
melody is not catchy because it kind of doesn't exist, there's a
punchline of sorts, but you might not recognize it unless you know the
song, plus, of course, there's a violin solo. The lyrics are uploaded,
in case either my English or the levels suck. The last row is the
punchline (I know, pretty lame :-)), so you may not want to look at
that immediately, if you care about that sort of things.
Stuff used: Snare & HH samples, Jomox 888, Voyager, Pro One, ARP
Odyssey, Kurzweil K2600R, Nord Modular, Andromeda, Violin, my voice.
