I had two BMX bikes when I was a kid, both lost too soon.
The first one, a cheap Aussie 70's clone with a banana seat and floaties
(fat sand-happy tires), I let go into blue space mid-jump over the side
of a massive, cliff-like sand-dune, and found it too dangerous to
venture and retrieve, as the sand was moving fast and like a wall. It
sank and I scrambled not to follow it.
I had ridden it quite gleefully all day up and down a more tamer section
of a dune system I knew as "The Wall Which Moves", which had exceptional
limestone banks in dodgy places, but finally, me and that bike hit the
edge. I bet it is still there, under the wall.
The second bike I rode round the hood of Subiaco, and had plenty of joy
with it on those streets and parking lots. Well, I didn't 'hoon' too
much, as it was the 80's, and I had instead to get my skates on, so that
bike was given to my neighbor after a summers dis-use, a Vietnamese kid,
who rode the hell out of it and left it on the train tracks one bad
day ..
After that, I got my first motorbike (Yamaha, of course) and have been a
'bike lover' forever.
I currently have a super-cruddy mountain bike which I will now go
outside and ride unless it breaks, but I don't think I'll get much
proper BMX'ing done.
I like the pics of yours, it reminds me of the super-hot 70's! You know
what I mean!
