It's more complicated than just popular uprising against the nasty 
dictator. But not much different from many other cases in nearby lands.
You see. The popular uprising was not 'fighting' any war, not yet, we 
were already positioned in Libya with mercenary bodies who are doing the 
real fighting trying to encourage the chaos and recruit bodies.

The protesters (Joe public) are stuck in the middle of a battle where 
joining either side may eventually, or rather too quickly, be their 
indiscriminate, and pointless, death.

At least that's how I see it?
