Ah learn something new everyday....it didn't occur to me to try pressing Deck C or Deck D buttons, but yes if you do that, then you can scratch on the sample deck, but that means you won't be able to do that for the deck above it, i.e. if you have sample deck C going, you don't have jog wheel control over deck A any more.
