It's never been an issue, FireWire is NOT blo… fu… cra… USB. ;)

The bottlenecks for the largest interfaces have always been hard drives, but with SATA, it all went to the passé… And you almost never record zillions of tracks simultaneously (say some mad classical music recording engineers), and the rare ones who do so have rigs according to Garp.
