The word 'gadgie' used to be used up here a lot, to refer to a man you 
don't know the name of or can't be bothered to name:

"That gadgie in the shop looked at me funny"

Never realised it comes from Roma gypsies referring to non-Roma's!

"That gadgies got a hoose!"
