Hi,

I have the 5D MKI and use almost only the 50mm f1.8 MK2 lens with it. I would love to get something with a telezoom (like the red ring 28-105 or something like it) but can't afford it right now.

I do have a green ring 70-300, which needs quite a bit of light, though for good pictures.

The 5D is an excellent camera, the MKII is even better. My mother has the 550 and also takes amazing pictures with it, but I have never used it. From her pictures I'd say go for it!
