Nice thought.
Handling chunks of wood like that without some large, serious machinery
is not going to work these days. I'm not saying I couldn't make a gun
stock, simply that I'd be too slow at it and the end result would not be
as accurate or finely finished as those on that page without a lot of
binworthy experiments. + I would need to invest in at least one complete
gun for measurements/trial fitting before even starting.
I was considering making a complete crossbow recently, I prefer
bows/Xbows to guns for sport, but that's on the back burner till I can
find some suitable woods in the wild (I think I may have located a bunch
of copsed ash that would be perfect for long/composite/Xbow making, but
may require some stealth to avoid nosey parkers trying to make
spuriously false citizens arrests, lol. People are so suspicious these
days, mostly spurred on by nagging other halves full of old wives tales.
