That's what I think also, a synth sound.

Distortion could be.
But I think my Korg Ms2000 comes somewhere there without distortion - 
but that's not really important - distortion makes it easier I think..


I also thought for a while it could have to do something with Mp3 
Quality and/or a mixing accident.
But that never was a realistic option, noise like that has to be there 
deliberately..
