Personally, I'd prefer a Canon lens unless Sigma is either a lot cheaper 
or offers something significant that Canon doesn't. Canon's 
communication protocol is not available to 3rd parties, so there's 
always a certain risk of compatibility issues. There's a whole host of 
old Sigma primes that no longer work on modern Canon bodies (aperture 
control has changed - I sold my Sigma 24mm 2.8 for that reason), and 
there's too much talk on AF issues. Given that lenses outlast the body 
by years, I decided to stay on the safe side.

There's a nice Canon 50mm F1.4, so there's no urgency to go Sigma. 
Unfortunately, there's no Canon equivalent for the 30mm 1.4 DC.
