No, you are not alone.  I am with you on all of this.  Personally, this
is why I always try to make music with an instrument, not my computer.
There is just too much choice on how to not make music on a computer.

Still, there will always be the view that none of it matters, if you're
not making music it doesn't matter what you didn't make music with,
computer or instrument.  

To that of course there is only one thing to say and that is if having
Max+Live as your big globbed-together ball of fuzzy noisy junk that can
be crashed at the blink of an email is your fix to get you making music,
hooray, lets hear it.  Must be deadly dangerous stuff.
