The Apple box doesn't do full 1080p either!
Even though I've already read Apple fanbois trumpet the Apple TV 
computing power superiority over the WDTV a few times....

Maybe the main CPU is more powerful, in theory, but what use is that if 
the WDTV secondary (and third) co-processor/DSP allow it to play more 
formats at full HD? A flashy, animated GUI is not better than better 
quality playback, the purpose of the beast.

It does not make sense ;)
