repaint an UDU good idea ?

Hello guys,
I wish to repaint  my Udu ( right now it has ugly colors from the factory ),
but I m not sure if it will affect the sound ?
I thought to do it with spray paint then  varnish it but I don t know if it
s the best solution.
Before I try to do something wrong, any inputs will be well appreciated ...
