Hi Jonny, 

    how's the impact of this code on your system?

on my MBP (2x2.6GHz, 4GB, 10.6.3) I get a peak cpu value of about 28% on the local server with some peaks of up to 53%.
Starting that two times was ok (as long as the peaks of this two synths didn't occur simultaneously) a third synth started to glitch noticbly.
This also matches the information I get from Activity Monitor.
