inkscape

I've been playing a bit with inkscape. (thanx Jay) Though not as 
'powerfull' as Firework (I use that on my crapy windows system)  I can 
do what I need with it. But, I realy need a 'dxf' or other autocad 
format for the lasercutter at work.I didn't manage to inport inkscape 
files.
So, does anybody know of a linux alternative  for autocad?  A 'light' 
version would do I think...
