Good point tho, nobody every complained about midi usb latency, so the
hardware protocol is not necessarely at fault.

I *think* this is control latency, ie the data being sent to the hardware
over USB is event data rather than audio, so it's possible to squeeze some
mS out of the way because there's not much data there to deal with. But I'm
guessing.
