ergonomics?  after a year of use, putting your wrists up an extra few  
inches can hurt!

also, easier to pack alongside some books.  the lighter it is the  
better, for travelling.  i dont like to be chained to my computer - it  
comes with me.  the smaller/lighter/thinner it is, the better.
