+1 for Maschine

One of the things I've noticed is that my largest complaint is also the
units great strength. I'm a huge Battery fan. Love it. Use it.
Maschine's engine is *way* stripped down by comparison. I assume it will
mature and become more robust as that seems to be the standard NI arc.
However, it is simple, clean, and tidy because of what they chose to
jettison. While I like Battery better, I work much faster in Maschine and
have decidedly more "fun". At the end of the day, listening to a track, it
simply wouldn't matter.

I'm kind of become more enamoured with the idea of "just turn it on and do
something already stupid" instead of planning, tweaking, thinking, messing,
and provoking. I'm beginning to feel that while I respect the desire and
need to "craft" something, the need to create something should always trump
those instincts. So far, Maschine is a tool that pushes me more to create
instead of craft.

Good way to put it.

I do yearn for companies who make these USB DAW integration products to
also offer little standalone USB->DSP->D/A boxes.
