Hmm, that's a bit dodgy, yes. My Sun at work has a pretty standard IDE
drive of 110 GB (and an old 20 GB one, that gets switched spun up on
demand) that runs 24/7, and I have no idea for how long now.

Hmm, I'd be careful taking consumer grade discs and running them 24/7,
though. This is one reason why I prefer the more expensive discs - in
general, they last longer, or give fewer problems.
