There was a time when I would have loved for this sort of scenario to be
true, but really, this is deluded teenager sort of thinking.

EMC's revenue for 2007 was over 13billion USD.  What do you think their #1
asset is?  Does not take a generous to work out the answer: their
reputation..

Now, lets consider the value of doing the above to their current 700,000
backup customers.  $5k? $10k? $20k?  Lets be generous and say $20k; do you
really think that warrants the reputational risk?

Everybody loves a conspiracy theory but come on guys - lets be sensible
about this...
