Hi all – I have been heavily reading up of mic pre amps / channel strips as
Im in the market for one. I think my requirements are:
1) very easy to use
2) A flattering sound could be nice, rather than something very neutral
3) I "think" I only need one channel but Im worried that I might regret
this (although can imagine why or how)
Although we only record vocals once or twice a month, I don’t mind spending
up to about £500/650euro as I am likely to only every buy one and then live
with it forever.
So far I have been drawn to:
SPL Channel One - they are about £800 new so should be about 500 used.

TC Electronic Gold Channel - Ive seen these used for just over 500. Im sure
they would give bucket loads of character but the digital menu interface
turns me off.

Aphex 207D - £350 new with digital outs. This one looks very intriguing,
especially from a cost and simplicity point of view.

Niall recommended the Safe Sound Audio P1:

Anyone else got any little pre amp secrets they want to share?
