There was a very interesting article on the NS10 in the last 
Soundonsound issue, explaing *why* people like them so much by looking 
at them from a very technical angle (meaning: speaker design, 
measurements, etc.).

I remember one of the key issues to note is that the NS10 is a closed 
design, unlike the vast majority of today's speakers which are 
bass-reflex speakers. There is also some peculiarity how the cones are 
manufactured. As far as I understand, the HS series reproduces neither 
of these two properties, so they most probably won't replace an NS10 if 
that's the sound your're after.
