I completely agree with you, Ron. Grainy 
pics can be very beautiful, especially 
the B&W ones. But digital noise is 
*ugly*, especially the colour noise blobs.

When I shoot a good picture, but the 
noise is bad, I often add virtual 
grainyness in Photoshop, to make it look 
like the picture was shot with a film 
camera. For example this one:

Please note that this picture is done 
with 18x tele, 800 ISO on a small 
sensor, plus I cropped the hell out of 
it :-)
