The posibilities seem endless. I also
think it won't be long now before we
will be able to dissect any track in all
its constituent parts. Great for
remixing and remastering.
Has someone checked out iZotope RX audio
restoration? You can now take out
ambient noises (coughing, loughing,
etc.) while still keeping the rest of
the sound / music intact, just by
select/cut.
But isn't

To be honest, I think that is the least
interesting part of this software.

I believe in a self-regulating mechanism
for performers. The public decides
whether singer X will stay on, or has to
go back to his daytime job... ;-)
And even if performers will start using
"stage versions" of those kinds of
products, who cares? It's the end result
that counts. Why would a 100% correctly
sung vocal be worth listening to, but a
60% correctly sung vocal with 40 % pitch
correction be tabu? I mean, if it sounds
cool...? Is a synthesizer worth less
than a violin? Is the product of a human
using power tools worth less than
someone who works with his bare hands?
I remember very well how I used top try
to get people like certain bands or
musicians by explaing how fantastic
their technique was. Most of the time
people ansewered something like, "Who
cares? I just don't like the music!"
(Hehehe...)
