Yes: an SLI motherboard is useless. By the time you can afford an 
additional video card, Nvidia will have jumped two generations and you 
get a brand new card with twice the performance at about the same amount 
of money as you paid for the old one. The reason to get a new one is to 
save a little bit on power consumption.
