Martin,

You'd better stop using all the power in your house then.
Oh, get rid of all the plastics, stop buying products with metal and oil
in and start growing and making your own stuff, though of course you can't
use incectacides.
So, if you're happy for the cost petrol to increase, you should also be
prepaired to pay extra for *everything* you don't grow/make yourself.
Are you?
Are you willing handle a tax of 80% of the cost of a loaf of bread? 400%
increase in the cost of a CD? 400% increase for your electric bill?
That's what you're agreeing to by saying the government is right in
increasing fuel costs.
oh, and keep in mind, it's the UK government that's doing this, not the
world. until countries like America that consume more oil per person than
anywhere else in the world start doing the same the benefit is going to be
minimal.
This is a way for the UK government to make money and be seen to be
'saving face' by pretending to be econmoically friendly.
Do you *REALLY* believe that the UK government actually wants us to stop
driving and loose all the revenue? of course not.
