the same argument has been used about tax on cigarrettes. if they cost
more less people will smoke.
It hasn't worked.

People will spend money on these things because there is no alternative.
Public transport is NOT a viable alternative in the UK, if the government
were to spend the tax increase in public transport, I'd support it.
But instead it all goes towards buying them new bathrooms in their london
flats.
