Missed this :-(

Oh yes. That's another story as well. A buddy of mine bought it from a
high school around 1980. I tried unsuccessfully for years to get him to sell
it to me. It is a perfect grey faced example of the species. One day,
after trying to buy the thing for around 5-7 years, I woke up with an odd
feeling. I went to the bank and pulled all the cash I had in savings at the
time out in $100 bills. I drove over to my friend's house (he runs his
business from his house) and told him I was there for the Arp. He told me
as per usual it wasn't for sale. I just started setting down $100's one
after the other, each time him saying it wasn't for sale. Eventually he
caved. It still sits right in the center of my studio rig. I paid over
$1000 year before last to have it completely electrically overhauled,
restored, and a couple little things repaired. It would be one of the very
last things to leave my studio.
Post Sscript on the original story of my wife. The first Christmas we spent
together (the one after the manual incident), she bought me a Minimoog. She
found it in the basement of a music store in Chicago that dealt in pianos
and organs. They had had it there since around 1980 and wanted next nothing
for it. She told me that in the basement it was sitting on some small white
type of organ thing. It turned out to be a Mellotron. I still have both of
those as well. The Mellotron does need a complete restoration at this point
though.
