You can also get a Creamware Scope card with Zlink or ADAT
I/O to interface with an A16 Ultra.
The quality of the hardware is on par with MOTU's designs,
but you get a lot of cool software to go with the card -
synths, effects, recording plugins. They sound great, the
Scope environment is extremely flexible and compatibility
with Windows XP and DAWs is quite good, with Vista drivers
forthcoming.
I have a few Scope cards and a pair of A16s Ultra back at
Tony's, giving me 32 analogue ins and outs and arguably the
best mixing and routing software going. The software
instruments, FX, etc are icing on the cake, but one could
easily make a terrific album with just those tools.
