We don't have the regulations - but I still doubt that the DIY approach 
really offers that much cost advantage after a commercial product once 
you attach a realistic price to your time. Yes, there are examples where 
the manufacturer makes a lot of money on a product, but it only takes a 
single failure to destroy everthing again (Waldorf, anybody?).
