 You may have seen this, but this is new to me. Giant sized MPC do-hicky -

 I love this kind of controller, something visual, something that becomes
part of the show more than just tapping at a laptop.

 I'm more and more believing that live acts can't just rely on technology
to do stuff, like sitting behind a laptop or synth, you need to be a part
of the show, and interact with the audience and the music.
 Perhaps that's part of why I enjoy playing bass? I'm there, doing my
thing and I can't hide behind the technology or rely on computers to save
my arse. If I fuck up it's there for all to see.
