Anything attached to the switch that is trying to talk to anything on the
switch (ie, inside your network) won't go anywhere near the router, that's
what the switch does, it 'knows' what is attached to what port, so when a
packet comes in on say port 1, it knows that it needs to be sent to port 5
and no where else.

If you're asking weather the two gigabit devices will talk at 1Gb, that
depends if the switch is 1Gb.
