Well, GUI is a different domain again. Great to have all that instant
recall at no extra cost. Tactility in the GUI domain is rather
theremin-like. These are maps of familiar terrain; or at least, the
interfaces fulfill that role, and fix some obvious bugs (lack of recall,
wear-and-tear ;) ).
In addition to the detail of sonic complexity (yeah - crosstalk in the
patchbay... oxide on the contacts? ;)...) the old gear provides
tactility (sometimes more than one would like...) and so, couple these
two aspects together, and the two types of instruments, physical
analogue and digital (roughly) emulated, are totally different, in
contradiction to their similar appearance, and algorithmic topology
(ahem...).
