Ampfea always had trouble getting past the collection of mailing lists 
that it originally was. Whilst there has been a web site for several 
years, I think it was too ambitious from a technical point of view, 
wanting to do too many things, done by too few people. Attempts to have 
more members involved started out enthusiastically, but in the end 
always petered out.

For instance, several years ago, the use of wiki technology was 
proposed, but that got vetoed of for some or other reason. I think it 
might have resulted in higher community participation, but it's a moot 
point now.
