How much would you pay?

I think the concept of how we pay for music needs to change. I'm not quite sure 
how it would or could work but some kind of licence to listen to music and bands 
get paid based on how often they are played rather than how many copies exist of 
the music.

Lets say I buy 1 CD per week at ?6 on average at the moment, thats ?312 per year 
  spent on music most of which I hardly ever listen to. But I do listen to a 
small amount of my collection a hell of a lot. Wouldn't it be more fair if the 
people I listen to more get a bigger share of that ?312.

Like I said - I don't know how it would work, but it seems a fairer system - it 
would also mean that novelty trash that it is huge for a short amount of time 
and then sinks without a trace would be less profitable and longevity would be 
encouraged.
