Hey Michael - yeah, I had a play with auto pan but not really what I was
looking for.  I think I have found it now - I forgot that I had a DXI
wrapper VST and Im sure what I used to use was a DXI thingy.

This is a good example of what happens when you have your studio in bits for
5 months!!
