headphone preamps, suddenly no bass?

Hi,

maybe someone has an idea what's probably wrong with my SM Pro Audio 
headphone amp:

Yesterday Eric claimed that there is only little bass on his headphones.
So we checked and crosschecked and whatever configuration we use, it's 
indeed less bass when compared to the Mackie's phones out.

Eric is pretty sure that this is something new since he regularly 
switches between the external amp and the Mackie's outputs.

We use the amp for monitoring while playing and it allows us to listen 
to the mix or to our individual stereo channels.

And now, no low end.
I suspect a defective capacitor, but where?
It lacks bass frequencies on all inputs and all outputs, whatever 
configuration we switch.

Speaking of that: Any recommendations for an alternative headphone amp?
19-inch and at least 4 in and 4 outs we need.
