That's my reason for asking.  I am trying to get away from relying on
factory presets and minor tweaks of the presets.  I want to start
programming my own.  I've had synths for years but don't think I have
produced one decent patch from scratch.

This leads me to another question.  How do you guys approach designing a
patch from scratch?  Is there is a set of specific steps for the type of
patch being programmed?
