Strangely, in sympathy with the demise of Mr Tony Wilson, the bar
(ampfea style) stopped too. So, If Jay really feels like letting ampfea
rest, it will be a great, if thoroughly accidental, memorial to someone
who kicked off a whole load of synth/dance/electronic music. Some words,
for-what-it's-not-worth:

The primitive in music, caught, cajoled, captured, manufactured in a
factory of sound and groove and delight, in the darkness called
Manchester, there was light, and thanks to this dude, illuminated a
path, with beats and bleeps and eight-bit samples, compressed and mind
expanded in dance halls, bedrooms and bedsits. In '76 he returned to
one, and ripped the posters from his wall, having seen it all at the
Manchester Free Trade Hall, where the Pistols did their sardonic thing,
played and history made, inspired and moved on.
