Regarding Behringer system 100 - I've heard there are lots of issues with tuning of the 112 VCO.

The one I've got is (yes, Behringer) 921, which had better opinions than 112 (which I was thinking about initially).

Neutron is, indeed, a very nice option. I've got the Crave, because it was second hand and in a very good price (100eur). Otherwise, I would end-up with Neutron or Cat.

Doepfer, especially used doepfer on muffwiggler buy sell trade, for budget. Like Tony said, the used market for modular is filled with modules used for about 10 min for 20% off. Not that you shouldn’t be careful in selecting who to buy from - but these things move around like hot tamales.
