My birthday has always been a good day, with family and friends -
plus I got to decide what we were having for dinner: french fries
and "kroketten", of course! (<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"

I guess some things have changed - I'm not so fond of fries anymore.
I also found that it's not necessarily fun to have your birthday
when the weather outside is cold and watery - which is often the
case on the 28th of January! Moreover, I felt something was always
missing: LIVE MUSIC - except for last year, when Perry surprised me
by playing "Je ne regrette rien": <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"

That got me thinking... <br>

And then it hit me: I wanted to organize a birthday party in the
summer - or at least not during winter. And it would be a party with
live music; live music, played by my friends and me. <br>

<big><b>THE IDEA </b></big><br>

I want as many of you as possible to get your ass over here, get
(re)aquainted, relax, do some networking, rehearse your music for
two days in a nice rehearsal room, play us your stuff and basically
just have an awesome time! It doesn´t matter if your music is noize,
pop, shoe gaze, jazz, acoustic Americana, experimental or just plain
rubbish; I will find you a good slot. Don't forget: it´s all about
meeting up again and having a good time!<br>
<br>
<b>P</b><b><big>lease consider doing a gig - even if it's just for 5
minutes, or 1 song, or playing back from a laptop and doing a
sexy dance. The success of this day will depend on you, the
musicians.</big></b> <b><big>And of course I want to show off
the music-bar to my other friends and to the people of
Wageningen.</big></b><br>

Anyone who wants to perform, will get a slot for a gig. For the
moment, slots are planned to be up to 30 minutes, depending on what
YOU want, and on the total amount of material the musicians will be
able to provide. If you want to do something BIG, though, let me
know, and I will get you a "special deal".<br>
<br>
All I'm asking you now is: <br>
* Let me know if you are planning to come to the party <br>
* Let me know if you will be doing a gig (playback or karaoke are
also allowed :-)<br>
* Let me know what style your music is: acoustic, electro pop ,
experimental, etc... <br>
* Let me know how long you will be playing<br>
* Let me know what gear you will bring<br>
* Sending me a link with a demo is good for planning; this event
will start "soft"and end "loud"<br>
* O, and let me know if you will bring any family :-)<br>

<b><big>I have said this before: this is not Woodstock, it's just
for fun - although you are free to prepare an awesome show, of
course, in which case you might get one of the available night
slots. </big></b><br>

REHEARSAL DAYS OCTOBER 3 & 4</big></b><br>

* For Thirsday 3d and Friday 4th, my friend René from Black Terrace
(awesome punk/wave band since the eighties) has offered us his

This is going to be loads of fun, so make sure you will be there!<br>

We will discuss rehearsal times and how to get to the rehearsal room
later. A taxi might be the best idea: it's not too far away, it's
cheap when we share the costs, it's easy to bring gear, plus we can
drink beer. A small sound system plus guitar and bass amps will be
available. <span class="moz-smiley-s1" title=":-)"></span> <br>

SOUND SYSTEM at the VENUE</big></b><br>
<br>
There's a big PA system with a big mixing desk. The sound is great.
There will be good monitoring on stage, and of course microphones
will be available. A guy from the venue will be doing the mixing.

<b><big>Please bring AS LITTLE GEAR as possible. It's better to make
a "backing tape"at home and play one or two mini synths live,
than arrive here with a truck load full of gear. It's a shame to
waste time with setting up.</big></b><br>
<br>
My advice: keep it small, do your own mixing on stage with your own
little mixer or laptop, and just send out a stereo line. <br>
<br>

PROGRAM</big></b> <b><big>October 5th</big></b><br>
<br>
* 12:00 - venue open<br>
* 14:00 - party starts<br>
* 14:30-17:30 - smaller acts, starting soft, getting louder<br>
* 18:00-22:00 - not so loud acts (there's a pizza restaurant above
the venue ;-)<br>
* 22:00-24:00 - 1 or 2 loud acts<br>
* 24:00-late - DJ Mohsen (USA) and DJ Geeza (Poland). <br>

<b><big>=============<br>
FOOD & DRINKS </big></b><br>
<br>
* Only invitees (all of you, plus my friends from NL) will receive
tokens for free drinks. I will provide you with extra tokens, if
you've run out. There will be a limit, though. Of course it will
always be possible to use real money <span class="moz-smiley-s3"
title=";-)"></span> <br>
* There will be free catering for all invitees around 18:00. It will
be simple, but good and healthy. The food will be partly vegetarian.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS</big></b><br>
<br>
By now, some of you will have made sleeping arrangements (hotels in
the neigbourhood, our house). Kristin and I will have room for 2-4
sleepers. The small bedroom is booked, but we still have 2 aerobeds
and a very nice sleeping couch. Just let me know. <br>
