To be honest, I don't really care about their software. For one, AFAIK, it only runs under OSX (which I think is stupid, not that I have anything against OSX but these days, targeting one Os is just plain idiot).<div><br>
</div><div>As a controller, I find it really mesmerizing. If I understood well each keys has poly pressure and some kind of vibrato which means - if it's standard midi cc - it can be hooked up in very interesting ways.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I agree the alpha is one sexy mama... but 4K is a pretty hefty price I'm not ready to fork, even if it seems the build quality is way up there and kinds of justifies it. I'm just wondering if the pico could come handy as a controller for live gigs - with the skewed pov that I don't play instruments :)</div>

If I have it right, basically the previous version will go open source, then from 2.0 on will be a paid subscription for support and software releases. So something to consider.</div>

To get the full level of expression you had to use their software and run your soft synths in that environment, and their software was so-so from an interface and reliability standpoint. It was really designed as an "instrument" for a musician so it's format is geared to that. Also the pico is almost a toy compared to the bigger units where things start to make more sense - would love to have an alpha :P</div>
<div><br></div><div>That said, it's fun to play really, and I'm going to check out the new version of their software to see if it's any better and let you know. Though on my first try the other day things did not seem to work after install.</div>
