monitors

Hey, Tom,

I don't have too much experience with different types of studio monitors, but I've learned 5 things in all the years that I've been mixing and mastering music:

1. Ears and mind will always be the most important parts of a good mix/master.
2. After a time you start to learn and understand the sound of your monitors. Any monitors. Even cheap ones. This means: you need to learn how to listen to them for good mixes and masters.
3. A sub is awesome and can give you so much more information on the sound of your tracks.
4. A studio quality headphone can be of great help with any mixing and/or mastering task. Personally, I couldn't do without my high end Sennheiser.
5. Last, but not least: if in doubt, compare results with commercial recordings of your taste.

Hope this helps a bit :-)
