Arrived! Hooked it up. Yup, balanced cables did the trick. Zero noise.

Mine-review: good build quality. Knobs have a nice feel and the unit is housed in a solid aluminum casing. Good wide rubber feet. Comes with a matching red USB-cable ;)

The volume is *very* hot. With my Equator D8’s a comfortable casual listening volume is already reached at about 1/8th of the total range.

No drivers needed on Sierra of course. But no software volume control! That’s completely disabled. A gray icon on the touch bar. Having no level control in the OS is not really a problem, since it degrades audio quality (a tiny tiny unhearable bit), but I’d like the full-mute function to still work (it doesn’t).

And talking about audio quality, it sounds good! I didn’t do a proper test, but it sounds like especially the bass is more defined (punchy) and the highs have more clarity. Although it’s probably the fully balanced cabling that makes the biggest difference.

Didn’t test it in Logic yet. So no remarks about latency etc. yet.

Anyway, happy with the purchase!
