Yeah, you really, really had to program the thing, I remember that explicitly as well (some 10+ years ago?) when I last had an Andromeda to play with .. you could very easily enter the gray goo zone and not fully grasp how to get out of it, too easily, at times.  But the thing was a stonking beast in the right hands.

Synthesizers are such an interesting UI domain.  That gray goo zone is a very interesting target.
