To me, this sounds like we should try and find a radical new alternative 
to the wheel, instead of putting so much effort in improving this 
millennia old technology.

My biggest gripe with all these new interfaces is that they take some 
arbitrary parameter (often technology) and work from there, rather than 
the most obvious point of origin: the human hand. Keeping in mind the 
limitations of the hand, too. Hundreds or thousands of parameters are 
nice, but a little bit useless if you don't have an easy way of 
controlling them.
